Ode to Coffee…

What can I say?  I love my coffee.   I do like it black every now and then, especially when it is paired with a dessert.  But I really, really love a good creamy sweet cup of coffee.   With three kids, it is so tempting to drive through the Starbucks line and order myself a Tall Vanilla Soy Latte….mmmmmm….pure bliss.  Pure bliss that costs $4!!  But if the baby’s sleeping in the back seat and I have some chauffeuring to do, a mom’s gotta do what a mom’s gotta do.

The above is a photo of my at-home, faux latte.  I don’t have an espresso machine.  I just make some drip coffee (I do grind the beans fresh each morning), then I add 1 Tbsp of either raw sugar or agave nectar and about 1/2 cup of hot soy milk.  Sometimes I’ll add in about 1/4 tsp of vanilla extract.  Good enough for me!  Yep, I know most people don’t add a whole tablespoon of sweetener to their coffee.  Gross, you say?  Well, I swear, my home-made coffee drink is less sweet than my Starbucks latte.  Lately when I’ve ordered a latte, I find it to be too sweet, even for me.  So there!

Any other coffee addicts drinkers out there?  How do you take your coffee?

Oh yes, I can’t get through a morning without a cup (or four) of coffee. I like it so much that there is a dedicated “iced coffee” pitcher in my fridge at all times. I love it with coconut milk (super yum!) and as I worry about diabetes, I tend to drink it without sugar. Buying cute to go mugs (and having 5 of them – enough for each work day) has saved me so much money – no more Starbucks stops. Yes, I wash a ton of them each Saturday morning, but it saves me time and money, so who cares if they roll around on the passenger seat floor all week?!?

I’m adding you to my feed reader, I’m glad you were featured – love finding new, interesting blogs!

I’m boring: I like my coffee black! I’m lucky, though. Our local commissary carries Hawaiian coffees for less than Starbucks beans, so I do enjoy some good coffee in the morning. But, I have no doubt that Starbucks coffee drinks would contain way more sugary stuff than just 1 tablespoon, though. And agave has a lower GI than any other sweetener (I don’t acknowledge the existence of that chemical fake stuff!), so enjoy!

    Mmmm… coffee.

I like my coffee on a boat. I like my coffee in a moat. I’d drink my coffee here or there, I’d drink my coffee anywhere.

In other words, I take it any way I can get it. 😉

My current favorite is a double tall nonfat caramel macchiato that I can make w/ our espresso machine or splurge on @ the ‘Bux.
